Wannado City Miami, Florida
Well....we've been enjoying our summer! Relaxing in the sun. Relaxing in the Air Conditioning! Something new for us was for my niece's 6th birthday (Ashley), we-meaning Wendy, Ashley, Ally, Gunnar, Troy and myself, drove to Miami to celebrate at Wannado City! We all enjoyed it very much. It's at the Sawgrass Mall, inside the Air Conditioning. It looks like a city for little people, not "little people", but children. ;-)
First, we checked in at the gate, and we all got family locating bracelets! Everyone arrives together and leaves together! Throughout the "city" their are kiosks for finding where in the "city" your family members are. I thought that was so cool!
So, the next thing we did was went to the bank (at the city) to deposit their $150 Wanga dollars that they could open a bank account and get a card, or get cash to spend around the city. It costs money to ride the bus you know. ;-) Anyway, the point is that the kids get to participate in trying out different professions to experience what grown-up jobs might be fun. Each profession they try, they get paid a set amount depending on the job and how well it's done! Cool huh?! Troy tried things like being a pilot (which he loved!), Firefighter which they got to use a real firehose/water to put out a building "fire". Wear the jacket/hat, slide down the slide and ride in the back of the firetruck! He also was the Anchorman for CNN Live News for Wannado City! (After watching Gunnar and Ally do it.).
As for Gunnar, he made $250 at the City Courthouse! Most of the jobs payed about $20 to $40. Gunnar experienced the Anchorman position at CNN Live News also. He was brave enough to risk his "Coolness" to try being a Chef in the bakery!
We took a break for lunch, and went to the "Raniforest Cafe" for lunch. We ate a giant chocolate volcano with a sparkler in it and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to Ashley. We could tell the kids were exhausted, but they couldn't wait to go back to the city for more! So we did! There was still more for them to experience when we left, so maybe next summer! Our tickets came with free admission to the Miami SeaAquarium so for Troy's birthday next month we'll be going back to Miami with their cousins! I'll be sure to share that too.
